If you are a fan of luxury SUVs and are currently looking for one, we have some good news for you. In fact, the news is so great that even if you are not looking for a luxury SUV (and your wallet is big enough), you will be tempted to get one. Land Rover has undertaken a massive price slash. The prices for the entire portfolio have been revised and the drop varies from approximately Rs 3 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Why? You ask. Well, after Brexit (the 'clever' term for the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union) the British Pound took a dive and the same has been communicated to us in the way of a price drop.
Starting with the Land Rover Range Rover, the entire variant lineup has undergone a price drop up to Rs 50 lakh. The Range Rover LWB 3.0 Vogue was earlier priced at Rs 2.2 crore and is now priced at Rs 1.7 crore. The Range Rover Sport has witnessed a drop in price up to Rs 28 lakh. The 3.0-litre diesel S variant, which was earlier priced at Rs 1.16 crore, is now priced at Rs 88 lakh. Even the price of the go-fast Range Rover SVR is down by about Rs 37 lakh! Coming to the baby Land Rover, the Evoque has witnessed a price dip of about Rs 3 lakh. The difference in here is less as the Evoque is locally assembled, unlike the SUVs mentioned above which are CBUs.
This year, though Land Rover has not launched any new models in the country, they have been busy nevertheless. First, in January, LR introduced the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder 240PS/340Nm petrol engine in the Evoque. Later in March, the Discovery Sport got the 'Ingenium' 2.0-litre in-line 4-cylinder diesel motor which replaced the older 2.2-litre diesel. Next big thing that we are waiting for from LR is the Velar. It has already made a debut on their Indian website and is expected to be launched later this year or at the 2018 Auto Expo.
